Der Übergang vom Wort zur Schrift war wohl einer der größten Schritte, die die Menschheit bisher getan hat.

Nachrichtenübermittlung über weite Distanzen war nun ebenso möglich, wie das Festhalten von Gesetzes- und Religionstexten. Nur durch Schrift konnten Hymnen, Klageschriften und wirtschaftliche Texte bis in unsere Zeit überdauern, auf daß sie uns von den Menschen, die damals lebten, erzählen können.

Hochkultur zu sein, das bedeutete in Besitz einer Schrift zu sein. Einer „heiligen“ Schrift, die nur wenige Menschen beherrschten. Schrift, das bedeutet auch Macht über die, die weder lesen noch schreiben können. Auch heute noch. Und auch in unserer hochtechnisierten Zeit ist das geschriebene Wort allgegenwärtig. Durch das Fernsehen vielleicht ein wenig ins Abseits geraten, kann das „moderne“ Internet nicht ohne sie auskommen.

Schrift bedeutet nicht zuletzt auch, sich ausdrücken zu können und zu dürfen. Es ist ein Weg, sich anderen mitzuteilen, sie an den eigenen Gedanken und Vorstellungen teilhaben zu lassen.
Schrift kann auch gefährlich sein, schärfer als das Schwert, wenn sie richtig angewendet wird.

Doch in unserem Fall ist Schrift nur dazu da, euch, meine lieben Besucher, zu unterhalten.
Denn auch Geschichten haben ihre Daseinsberechtigung :]

The step from orality to scripture was one of the biggest steps of mankind. Transporting news over vast distances became possible as well as the recording of law and religious texts. Only through writing was it possible to preserve hymns, elegies and even lists of wares, enabling us today to get a glimpse into the lives of people who lived thousands of years ago.

“Culture” meant the possessing of script and of holy scriptures which were readable only to a few individuals, giving them power over those who couldn’t read or write. This is as true today as it was five thousand years ago. Even if through modern technology the spoken word can be transported through space and around the planet such things as the internet wouldn’t be possible without script.

Last but not least, script is a way of expressing oneself, of wording and sharing one’s feelings and beliefs and above all to communicate. “The feather is mightier than the sword” springs from those roots and script has often played a major role in defining and changing the world.

Nothing that ambitious is planned here, though. We only strive to express our fantasies and to entertain you, our dearest visitors. Between the two of us we have written stories for almost three-and-a-half decades now, fanfiction and original fiction alike. This place now is our small spot by the fire where we store those stories which we like to share (as the others are most likely forever unfinished or too embarassing). We wish you a pleasant stay and warm fuzzy feelings if you stumble across something you like.
